Zero waste event planning

Thank you WordCamp Montréal for making this year’s event low waste! 🙌

A lot of the waste created by work conferences comes from the food and drink: packaging and food waste.

This year, all attendees received an insulated travel cup for hot and cold drinks at registration that they were encouraged to use throughout the conference 💚

The coffee station was stocked with cream and milk cartons and bowls of sugar—no single-serve packets!

Other drinks included fruit-infused water in large dispensers and cans of soda—no plastic bottles!

Day 1 lunch was served buffet-style on real plates with real silverware and real tablecloths—no disposables!

Day 2 lunch was pizza delivery—no food waste 😂

And the venue, Concordia University, provided easy-to-understand waste sorting stations for trash, recycling and compost—less confusion!
