All of my trash fits into a 1/3 cup measuring cup! 😀
I was out of town most of the week on a work trip and succeeded in keeping my waste to a minimum. In addition to a few receipts and produce stickers, my trash included a wristband from a horse race track, receipts for two bets I placed and a couple pieces of wax paper from the pizza I ordered when I got home (I emptied my fridge before leaving and had nothing for dinner! 😬)
Carryout pizza is my go-to option when I need to order takeout. The wax paper keeps the cardboard grease-free so it can be recycled. And there are no plastic utensils or napkins to refuse 😁
As for the work trip, I brought an insulated stainless steel bottle that kept hot drinks hot and cold drinks cold—this eliminated the need to carry a separate coffee mug and water bottle. I also brought a couple lightweight reusable containers with me to avoid takeout containers when eating out. Avoiding waste when traveling isn’t easy, but it’s possible if you have a zero waste kit! 😉
